Angry Birds bento sets

With the popularity of Angry Birds spread across town, there’s growing demand to all things Angry Birds. Last week when we went shopping I saw lots of Angry Birds toys and accessories (keychains, figurine set in different sizes, plushes, and many more) are sold everywhere.

Of course eventually we’ve got several requests for Angry Birds kyaraben set. So using the onigiris from previous post, I made 2 (two) sets of Angry Birds theme kyaraben.

The first one is almost like the Angry Birds bento I made several months ago but using our usual large take away bento box. This one consists of a red angry bird and a green pig with chicken popcorn, sweet corn, broccoli chunk, strawberry, and an orange slice.
The second kyaraben set is consists of a yellow angry bird and a moustache green pig with chicken popcorn, sweet corn, broccoli chunk, strawberry, and flower sausage with egg sheet.

It’s been a long time ago since my last post. I’m really really sorry that I haven’t been able to keep up with new contents, it’s not that I haven’t made any kyaraben at all; in fact I made tons of kyaraben during past two months that kept me away from posting. Lots of new projects came in such as kyaraben orders, with almost each week attending workshop with moms and kids, interview with magazines and TVs, and with one book project that still waiting.

The first Angry Bird onigiri project I did was such a hit that I really want to do more of them. So when I’ve got time to do it then I gotta do it since I really can’t predict when we’ll get new orders.

This time I made 5 (five) special Angry Birds theme onigiri: regular green pig, mustached green pig, green pig King, red angry bird, and yellow angry bird. As usual, the green colored rice was made with white rice mixed with peas paste with eyes from cheese, ears from edamame, nose and mouth from cucumber, and other details were made from nori. The mustache was cut from carrot and the crown was from kabocha (while carrot can do the job perfectly fine also).

The angry birds on the background was made with colored rice: red from red yeast rice and yellow from kabocha (Japanese pumpkin) with details made from baby carrot, carrot slice, cucumber skin, cheese, and nori.

Airplane onigiri bento, One Year Anniversary

It’s been quite a while since the last post although I have tons of new projects from this month but then more projects come right after another so it’s really hard for me to find time for editing and posting them.

This April is exactly one year from our first kyaraben order. We’ve come a long way, make more than 2,000 (yes, two thousands, yay ^_^) bento since then and the number still keep going. Of course it is still my dream is to make that kind of number each month, so around 100 bento per day, which I think is very possible to achieve.

I also plan to open a bento supplies store since lots of people, especially my workshop participants, ask me to do. So if I want to realize that also then I need to find more assistants to help me doing things around my house. With a new baby coming at the end of September, it’s really going to be a hectic year ahead.Today post is a simple onigiri bento. I shaped an airplane onigiri with beef floss inside it. I used carrot slice for the wing and egg sheet for its window. The facial of course made with nori. Let’s hope that mymealbox can really take off like the airplane for coming years

Assorted onigiri mini bento

Lately we’ve got lots of order for mini onigiri bento so I guess now it’s a good time to update our mini bento set catalog with a new pictorial.

After much thought, we came into conclusion that our old mini set was too light, so we decide to change the menu becoming more like our medium onigiri set with smaller portion. So now our mini onigiri set consists of a white rice onigiri, 3 (three) pieces of chicken nugget, corn, broccoli chunks, beef sausage, and a quail egg without konyaku jelly. But if customers still want to have jelly for the mini boxes (since kids love jelly so much) I think there’s still room for a jelly in these tiny boxes but we have to remove the quail egg to make room for it

Rabbit & bear onigiri bento update

We have lots of order for this animal onigiri bento, almost each week that I just don’t post them anymore since they’re look the same like the ones before them. I always documented all of our works to keep track of them and then I noticed that we’ve made little changes from time to time on this particular set so I want to post our newest one.

Basically it’s still our signature food combination, animal shaped onigiri with broccoli chunks, corn, beef sausage, chicken nuggets, lemon slice, and strawberry jelly. And as the team got faster each time we make a project, now we can add more details like the cheek blushes on each of animals.

Hopefully we can still evolve this onigiri set and make it more beautiful ^_^
