I’ve got this new pocket sandwich maker which I think is very nice tool to have, I promise that I will post this new tool sometime next week in ‘bento equipment’ category. The pocket sandwich was made with one slice of bread but with this new tool I could put lots of filling inside the bread.

I made two sandwiches and put them inside my small bento box along with broccoli, corn, red crispy grapes, and a pair of octo-sausages. For the sausages, I didn’t boil them like usual since it will make their ‘tentacles/legs’ too wrinkled, so instead I put them in a frying pan (without oil) and put the bottom part of the sausage in low heat just to open up their legs to make the result I wanted.

I made this quick sandwich bento for breakfast. I cut two slices of white bread into 6 evenly parts and put them in oven for over 5 minutes, my wife really loves toasted bread. While the bread was in oven, I made a thin egg sheet (usuyaki tamago) with a crepes pan. After the bread was toasted, it’s time to cut some ham, cheese and lettuce.

I arranged the sandwich into a bento box along with 2 grapes and cherry tomatoes with food pick. I cut the egg sheet with my rilakuma cookie cutter, the teddy’s hands was cut with a large straw. Those teddies were too thin that they could not stand up well without some support, next time I should add cheese cut from a cheese bar and pasted behind the egg sheet to make them thicker.

Saturday is always a busy day. I was too tired and missed posting although I promised myself to do that. Luckily my son, Jojo, slept early so I can continue my unfinished tasks.

The other bento I made 2 days ago was quite simple also. I tried to make chicken karaage, the recipe was found on the web, I’m really sorry that I forgot which site since I usually write down the recipe on my notebook, not bookmarked the page because I will cluttered my bookmarks with hundreds of sites if I did that.

I think chicken karaage is a good bento recipe since its chunky shape easily fit into bento box.

I made twin bunny from rice mold, one is plain rice and I mixed the rice with egg yolk to make the yellow one, the result was brighter compared the one mixed with curry powder. Their eyes and mouth were done with nori cut with hole puncher and scissors.

I still have the boiled white egg and I tried to make a piggy face with that, the idea was from bento mook compilation I bought from Kinokuniya. I cut ham with knife for the ear, tail, and outer nose parts and cut the two holes on center nose with plastic straw. Lastly, sesame seed was put for the piggy eyes. Easy to make and the result was quite satisfying.

Lastly I add some carrots, parleys, and grapes to fill the bento box.
